(I)dentify as Phoenix
MOCA Jacksonville
In this exhibit I work with themes of transformation inspired by the mythic immortal phoenix. The regenerative quality of the phoenix is parallel to the constant growth and changing identity of self that forms with our life experiences.
Experimenting with a variety of media to create a sense of movement and tension within stationary forms, my work elicits a feeling of momentum and change. Through strong, yet fragile cast iron and wood, and the hands of my kindred creatives, unique stories through disparate mediums are woven that challenge the conformity of single discipline artistry. While reflecting on my past and looking ahead to the future, I invite you to rise along with me.
Artist in Residence at Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville. December 14, 2019 - April 12, 2020
